“5L” and “10L” describe maximum rated flow categories; they do not tell you how much oxygen a particular person should use. Flow must come from a clinical prescription.

Compare requirements, not bigger numbers
A higher-capacity machine may be relevant when the prescription, clinical use or multi-outlet configuration requires it, but it can also differ in power consumption, size, noise and purchase cost. Verify oxygen concentration across the required flow range in the current manufacturer specification.
Buying checklist
- Prescribed flow and duration of use
- Whether one or more outlets are required
- Oxygen concentration specification at the required flow
