Institutional accessory purchasing guide. A clinical purchasing department may receive requests for 'CPAP tube', '22 mm hose' or 'fine filter'. Those descriptions are not always precise enough to specify safe replacement accessories.
Tubing is not always interchangeable
Consider standard versus heated hoses, nominal diameters, machine-end connectors, mask compatibility and whether manufacturer programming or identification is required. A 15 mm or 22 mm description alone does not prove the replacement is approved.
Differentiate filter types
Disposable ultrafine filters, reusable pollen filters and other device-specific components may have different functions and replacement instructions. Verify the exact manufacturer model, part number and approved maintenance schedule.
Treat power components separately
Power adapters must match the device's voltage, current and physical connector specification. Even when the plug fits, a non-approved or insufficient power supply can be unsafe. Follow the manufacturer documentation.
Write meaningful purchase-order lines
State manufacturer, device model, approved accessory code, size, length if relevant, quantity, any material and packaging requirements. If a supplier cannot confirm the requested specification, do not accept a visually similar substitute as equivalent.
